For home use, 8 ft tables are somewhat common, but infrequently used elsewhere. Snooker tables, the largest at 12 feet when full-sized, have smaller pocket aperatures than pool tables, as do models for Russian pyramid. The 7 ft models, usually coin-operated, are typically found in bars/pubs due to limited space, and are also used for the Korean game of four ball. Coin-operated pool tables use multiple ways to determine the cue ball from the object balls, including light sensors, different ball sizes/weights, or magnetic triggers.

How I Got Snookered By An Antique Pool Table

When I inherited an antique Brunswick pool table from my great uncle Ivan, I did not know what to do. You see, I have a limited amount of space. My condo is not small, but it is not huge either. If I had wanted to, I would be able to keep the antique pool table, but I certainly could not store it.

I wondered if I should sell the antique pool table, or if I should play on it. It was in good condition, and I had always wanted to have a billiard table of my own. An antique billiard table seemed like such a classy thing to have. I knew that my uncle used to play on it from time to time, and antique pool tables seemed to withstand wear pretty well.

The problem was, my uncle Ivan was not much of a drinker. If he had been, the antique pool table would not have lasted in the condition that it was in. I have seen my friends play pool at bars. They get drunk and ram their cues into the felt. I shuddered to think about what that would do to the antique pool table. It would be a shame to damage such a beautiful antique!

The antique pool table really was beautiful. It was made of a dark wood, well finished and heavy. The pockets had their original webbing, the table was finished with the original felt, and everything was balanced perfectly. It even came with a set of fairly well preserved antique pool cues. Although they were slightly warped from age, they were still serviceable. Don't get me wrong – I would rather use my own cue on that antique pool table. Even so, it was nice to have the whole set together.

In the end, I decided to keep the antique pool table. I would simply have to watch it carefully. From then on, I did not drink with my friends in my house. I knew that once the drinks started flowing, I could not stop something from happening to the antique pool table. I would, however, invite my friends over to my house in the afternoon sometimes for a game or two of 8-ball. They thought that I was being unreasonable by refusing to play host for evening soirées, but I knew that I had to do what I had to do. It was the only way for me to take care of that antique pool table.

Snooker tables

Pockets

Markings
The baulk area is marked by a line drawn at 29 in (737 mm) from the bottom cushion. A semicircle with a radius of 11.5 in (292 mm) centred on this line within baulk forms the "D" in which the cue ball must be placed when breaking or after the cue ball has been potted or shot off the table. The position of four of the colours are marked along the long string (lengthwise centre) of the table, perpendicular to the baulk line: the spot, or black spot, 12.5 in (324 mm) from the top cushion; the centre spot, or blue spot, located at the mid-point between the bottom and top cushions; The pyramid spot, or pink spot, located midway between the centre spot and the top cushion; and the brown spot, located at the mid-point of the baulk line. The exact placing of these markings will be different on smaller tables, such as a 5 ft by 10 ft pub table.

Things You Must Decide Before Buying That Pool Table

This is a list of the top 10 things you should be aware of before taking the plunge and getting your very own pool table such as: what size table should you get, what sort of pool cues to get and what size room do you need at home. Also if you live in the UK you have a choice of what type of table you can get, English or American. Pool is probably the most popular of the billiards games, certainly in the US and now in the UK as well, with more people playing pool than the more traditional English game of snooker. Anyway, here is the list:

1/ There is American pool and English pool. The difference is in the size of the equipment. American pool is usually played on larger tables, up to 9 ft. Riley's the snooker and pool clubs have American tables. The balls used on these tables are 2 ¼ inches in diameter. American tables start in size from 7 ft up to 9 ft. English pool tables are small by comparison at only 6 foot or 7 foot and use 2 inch pool balls. They were developed for the pubs in the UK so they did not take up so much space. A lot of the pool tables in bars and pubs are 6 foot with a few 7 foot tables also.

English pool is now very popular with its own association the EPA (English Pool Association) and they hold tournaments all over the UK. The tournament size of pool tables for EPA tournaments is 7 ft.

2/ Determine the room size you need for your pool table by adding 10 feet to each table dimension; a 6 foot table needs 16 feet by 13 feet allowing for cues as well as the table. A table that is 7 feet long, needs 17 feet x 13 and a half feet. The pool cues being 57 inches long.

Be aware the size of the tip on the pool cues are different for American and English pool. For American pool, the tip size for the pool cue is 12 or 13 mm and for English pool, the tip size is 8 to 9.5 mm the same as in snooker.

4/ The cheap pool tables like the folding pool tables and the fixed leg wooden tables are made from MDF which is basically fine wood dust compressed with a resin to produce very strong flat sheets, ideal for a pool table surface. Unfortunately because the tables are made of wood they are liable to warping. They are available in sizes up to 7 ft and some of them are very good indeed and are certainly not cheap, like the black cat from BCE which has an 18 mm MDF table bed which is less prone to warping and the Phoenix from SCI that have steel rods inserted into the MDF to extend the life of the table and resist warping the best.

5/ If you can afford it, the best table to get is the slate bed version, either 6 or 7 ft English tables or the magnificent 8 and 9-foot American pool tables. These are more expensive with a starting price of around £600-£700 for the English tables and up to £4000 for the top of the range American tables. These definitely give the best game and will last longer than you.

6/ The pool balls come in different colours, 8 ball pool, which confusingly is played with 15 pool balls, can have 7 reds and 7 yellows and a black no 8 ball or the spots and stripes version has 7 striped balls and 7 solid coloured balls and a black no 8 ball. Just get the set, you like the look of.

7/ Make sure you have the correct sized rack for your pool balls. A rack for 2 ¼ balls is a different size to one for the 2-inch balls. Another type of game more commonly played on American pool tables is 9-ball pool, which this time is actually played with 9 balls numbered 1 - 9. You need a special diamond shaped rack for the nine balls. To rack 9-ball pool, the one ball goes on the spot and the 9-ball in the middle. The rest are put in randomly.

8/ The cloth on pool tables does not have a nap or direction to it, and comes in lots of colours. There are even some cloths with logos on and naked ladies etc, but bear in mind you could probably do without the distraction, go for a solid colour and green is still the best to play on.

9/ Why not consider an outdoor pool table for your decking if you are short of room in your house. These come in wood and fibreglass. The outdoor wood pool table is made out of the same preserved wood as your decking and has a slate playing surface and teflon coated cloth. The outdoor fibreglass pool tables have slate playing surface and waterproof cloth as well. These models are designed for outdoor use, and the wooden model comes with a full cover for the winter.

10/ It is important to check the price of delivery of the pool table. The slate bed variety of pool table is very heavy and is usually delivered by specialist companies, which means they are expensive. Expect a price of £120 + for delivery and maybe an extra £50 or more (much more for the multi slate American tables) to do an installation in your home.

Robotic Vacuum Cleaners: Perfect for Cleaning Pool Tables

A friend of mine bought a robotic vaccum cleaner as a gag. It's actually pretty fun to watch it semi randomly roaming around the room. It seems to have about 15 different direction change sequences, which allow it to eventually cover about 98% of a small area before the battery runs out.

Well, this friend has a pool table and one day when the table was looking a little shabby, we decided to try using the robotic vacuum cleaner on it. The thing did an absolutely awesome job. Fun to watch too, or did I already mention that? Well pretty soon we started seeing how good an 8 ball player the unit was. We set up a rack, and let the robot do its thing.

It eventually broke the rack and proceeded to clean up the table. While pushing balls in all over the place, it's tiny little brushes were scooping up all the ashes, dog hairs, and other detritus that accumulate on tables over time. Then it dawned on me, while this relatively cheap $150 cleaner wasn't too useful in a typical house, it was perfect for the tedious job of cleaning 10 tables at a pool hall.

While you may still need a brush to get under the edges, just sweep the mess out in the middle and let your little robot take care of it. It also seems to raise the nap of the felt, so you should start out with the vacuum mode on high.

Installing Art Glass In A Pool Table Lamp

We had a metalworking artist build a framework for a pool table lamp. It was a little tricky but not difficult to install the glass. We don't electrify lamps, because that would require U.L. listings and the costs for custom work would be prohibitive. What we do instead is call the lamp a "lamp shade" and allow local electricians to install whatever light package they desire.

The panels are all built and sized to fit into the metal frame that I had built for the pool table lamp. After dry fitting each piece to make sure they would fit, I put a small bead of clear silicone caulk around the inside of the angle iron.

I have to gently ease the panel in place without allowing it to fold over since there are weaknesses in the glass design where the lead lines provide no support and depend on the frame they are going in for support.

Once it's inside the frame, I gently lay it in place and center the gaps to be equal on each side. I'm careful not to let the glass hit the metal edges of the frame and chip.

I then apply silicon to the side panel frame and ease the first side panel in place.

Same thing with the other side panel, add silicone and ease the panel in place. I have to be very careful not to allow too much pressure between the glass pieces. I even cut and grind some of the pieces so that the fit doesn't have too much pressure.

I take little strips of wood and c clamps to keep the glass tight against the frame, but I'm careful to only apply very gentle pressure. I don't want to crack my glass.

I let the frame work sit for 24 hours so that the silicone can set and cure properly.

Here, Jeanne has just applied the black patina to the final panel and cleaned, waxed and polished it.

I stand the frame so gravity will work in my favor, remove extra sticks that were being used to clamp the panels and ease the final panel in place. I have to get the widest edge into the framework first and the pull the panel up into place so that the whole thing fits perfectly. I do it without silicone first so that I am sure it fits and then I bed it into the silicone.

At each corner, I make sure there isn't any pressure against the glass and I add a bead of silicone between the panels to fill the slight gap between them. I make sure there is a little space between them because I don't want the glass edges to touch. If they do, heat expansion could cause them to expand and break each other. Silicone will protect against breakage.

I put sticks and clamps against the final piece to hold it in place and I gently place a book on the panel to hold it against the frame where I can't easily get a clamp to fit. Once the silicone sets the glass fits well into the lamp and it's done.

What a difference it makes!
My car takes almost the entire ride home to get warm, so I'm normally freezing all the way home. This heated seat makes a huge difference. It heats up pretty quick and gets nice and warm.

The company began in 1854 as Waterbury Clock in Connecticut's Naugatuck Valley, known during the nineteenth century as the "Switzerland of America." The Basic Coverage:
This TIMEX Watch (but not any battery, crystal, band, or strap) is warranted to the owner for a period of ONE YEAR from the date of purchase against defects in manufacture by Timex Corporation - not by the dealer from whom the watch was purchased.

What Timex Will Do:
If this watch develops such a defect within the one year period, it will be repaired (i.e. a new or thoroughly reconditioned and inspected module will be installed or replaced and a watch of equal value and similar appearance will be supplied) at our option, provided it is returned with a $7.00 check or money order to cover costs of postage, handling, and service, and you provide proof of purchase and date of purchase.

This Limited Warranty Does Not Cover:

Timex will not repair defects relating to servicing not performed by Timex Corporation.

Timex will not provide any warranty service if your watch shows evidence that it has been tampered with, misused, abused, or altered; for example: moisture damage sufficient to affect the proper function of the watch; damage to the case; or visible cracking of the crystal.

Care of Your Watch:

Avoid exposing your watch to water, steam, or other forms of moisture, if it is non-water-resistant.

This Watch is a WINNER!
I ordered two of these watches. One for my 8-year-old son and his best friend. One box came in a gray packaging dated 2005. The other box came in red packaging dated 2007. Both watches worked. The boys were so excited when they opened them! They love to play "spy" missions and pretended to "talk" with each other through the watches. My son's friend has a hard time reading analag watches. Both of the hands on the dial are different colors. The smaller brown hand tells the hour and the longer green hand tells the minutes. My son's friend could now tell time without getting confused!! That was priceless. The band on the watch is a stretchy comfortable material that is very easy to adjust and it velcroes back to itself. The boys' favorite part of this watch is the indiglo nightlight on the face of the dial. I would buy this for any child without hesitation.

Not bad but losing time...
We bought this watch for our five year old son. He loves it and keeps it by his nightstand each night when he goes to bed and puts it on first thing each morning. It has become a great tool as we begin to teach our son how to read time. We also like it over digital watches since all the clocks in our house and his school are analog. The only downside is it has begun to lose time. Not sure if we simply need to replace the battery but it is losing about 5 minutes a day. If the battery replacement fixes this then I would give it the full five stars as this watch is a great value for the money.

My Grandson Loves His Watch
My 7-year-old grandson really feels like a big-shot with this watch. His dad wanted him to be comfortable with a traditional timepiece instead of digital. Turns out that the traditional hands of the clock are a big hit with my grandson too. And a couple of his little friends have been heard to say something like, "That's something a grown-up wears." I compliment Timex on this product!

Fuzion Electron- Best Fuzion Out
Alright, first, a little background info on myself. I am on Nextsport's Team Fuzion Flow, and was on the Bronze team for 4 months. I've been riding razor scooters for 2.5 years now, and fuzions for about 1. i know a thing or two about scooters.

The Electron is first and for the most part a freestyle (trick) scooter. You should know that right away, if you want a cruiser/carver scooter than you should consider the Asphalt or Carbon.

From a freestyle standpoint, the Electron is the best Fuzion Nextsport has released. Specifically, its light weight (9.4 pounds i believe) allows for many more tricks/combos to be done than on the NX, Nextsport's first freestyle-specific scoooter. While the NX is more suitable for bigger people (18 inch wide bars, wider deck, stronger wheels, etc), the Electron is perfect for smaller freestyle riders.

Although it has a weight limit of 135 pounds, even if you are smaller than this be prepared for some play in the folding mechanism. Repeated impacts will start to wear down on the foldy mech, which as far as I know cannot be "locked" (some riders lock folding mechs on Razors to prevent them from wearing down, and shaking).

The wheels are, I won't lie, pretty bad. After just a few days with my new Electron the back wheel dehubbed. One sketch doublewhip and its toast. So this has prevented me from doing a lot of whips. You can put skateboard wheels on it, however. They are also fairly slow.

I do think that this is a great Fuzion scooter for the kid who loves to do tricks on anything with wheels though. Chances are that he will ride the Electron for a very long time. The fact that it has four wheels gives kids more options for flatland style tricks than on two wheelers. And if Billy starts getting pretty good, you can send a video of him to Nextsport for a chance to get sponsored!

Bottom line, if you want to do some pretty sick stuff on a Fuzion, this is the scooter for you. If you want an alternative to Razors for your small child, the Electron will suit your needs perfectly. If you want to zip along the streets, carving around and just bombing hills, I would suggest a different Fuzion.

A hit!
My daughters kept fighting over this scooter, if that's any indication. It seems a little safer than other scooters because a) it has four wheels and b) it's slower than other scooters, what with the smaller wheels. It's definitely made for doing fun tricks if you're into that. It's not for tall people, just fyi.

Best Fuzion scooter EVER
I have many fuzion scooters. I have the nx, carbon pro, ashpalt, coblat. I just got the new fuzion electron and it is so cool. Its great for getting huge air in the park, or grinding a pool. Its i also great for transportation and tricks. Its have 360 degree rotation for barspins and tailwhips. I love this scooter and couldn't live with out it.

Tasty and tender meat!
My poor mom ahd been in the hospital for a month and I am not permitted to drive her car. And I thought that internet grocery shopping might make it easier on my poor aunti. These are some great steaks! when mom came home, I fried some in the pan for her and me. We both liked them! In 1993 and 1994, I used to want to try thier Omaha Steaks $50.00 sampler pack, but never felt emboldened to try them! NOw I and and I really liked them!

Acer Aspire One
Can't really review the first Aspire One I got as it crashed before it was even set up. After an hour with the Acer people they decided that my hard drive was bad. They wanted me to return it, they would fix it and send it back to me, now technically a refurbished unit. I declined and sent it back to Amazon, who immediately refunded my money. A second one bought from Amazon seems to be working fine so far but I've only used it for a week or so as it's a christmas present for my husband. One caveat, you must be online to setup and boot the system if it fails. You have no disk or memory card containg the boot program. If you don't have internet access readily available and your system crashes you're out of luck.

Value and Performance Leader
I'll keep it simple. I usually run 4-5 PC's at once in my work area.
This little Aspire is amazing. It is faster than my Toshiba Centrino,
cooler looking than my IBM Lenovo and more fun than my Dell Quad-core.

Great LITTLE Computer
This is a terrific buy. It easily slips into your purse or backpack when you're on the go. The keyboard feels/operates like it's full-sized. And I consistently get 5.5 to 6 hours of battery operation. Besides using the Internet, I've worked in text documents and Excel files with no difficulty. I absolutely love it!

Love it
As someone with very dry skin, I was tired of moisturizers that were too thick and goopy. Hope in a Jar, on the other hand, is excellent! I have been using it for a couple of years now, and still love it. It's very light and absorbs quickly, but makes my skin feel moisturized all day. My skin has never had an allergic reaction to it, either.

AMAZING MIRACLE PRODUCT!!!
HOPE IN A JAR IS AMAZING!!! I have very sensitive skin that is VERY prone to breakouts... from having acne for a few years I have dark acne scars all over my cheeks and chin.. I have to wear alot of coverup and foundation to cover it all up! Since using hope in a Jar I can already see a MAJOR difference in my skin and its only been 3 days!!! My skin is brighter, my darks spots are fadding and my acne is going away! Having bad skin at my age (23) is very stressful, and hope in a jar has given me TONS OF HOPE that my skin will eventually be acne free and beautiful! I am getting that glow back and 100% getting my confidence back! I am suprised at the other reviews that state this product has a horrible smell.. it absolutley DOES NOT have a bad smell to it.. It smeels like citrus lemons and it Goes away in seconds.

The product is a little expensive but a little goes along way, the product sinks into your skin like water, it makes your skin feel and look sooooooo soft! I have tried TONS AND TONS of products and I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who has ANY TYPE of SKIN.. I believe this would help anyone who has good or bad skin! ITS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!

Junk with fatal design flaw
It is extremely difficult to make a sealed, air tight connection between gauge and tire stem. What's worse is that when it beeps (to tell you that you have a good reading) if you don't immediately remove it, I mean a flash fast muscle twitch reaction, it resets itself and erases the reading it just took.

Since I was wrestling with making the connection, my hands, the gauge and the air stem were in constant motion. I had no way to remove the gauge right at the precise beep moment.

Since it costs 75 cents for 3 mins of air at most gas stations around here, I spent $1.50 just to top off the the inflation levels...and I wanted a hammer to beat the gauge into the asphalt.

I've thrown it away.

P.S. Some have mentioned O rings and the "new" version but I bought mine in October '08. It was anything but new and improved. Finding and installing an O ring for this gadget is way beyond my pay grade. If you think you can do it, it's probably a great little gizmo.

takes some getting used to
this is a very different kind of tire gauge. once you get used to using it, it works really great and gives a nice and visible read out of what your pressure is. I read somewhere that it can get loose when measuring the pressure and they said to use a little electrical tape which we did and that helped alot.
good buy, especially for people that can't see too good since it is very easy to read and see.

Nifty tool that does the trick
Finally a pressure gauge I can read! Works excellent out the box & I like the indigo backlight. No excuse now not to check my tire pressure. Highly recommend. I bought two.
